Maggie married Carlton J. Rooney July 2, 1946 in Richmond, Vermont. They moved to Fort Peck, Montana in 1953 with their five children with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. After two years, the Bureau transferred her husband to Boysen Lake Government Camp for ten years, Thermopolis for two years, then Casper for 19 years. They retired in 1982 to Citrus Springs, Florida.

She traveled extensively with her husband across Europe and Mexico. Maggie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing cards, garage sales, collecting antiques and loved to visit. Her baking and cooking skills always brought a lot of yums. If you had one of her pies, donuts or a pan of noodles you remembered them. A Casper Priest wrote of Maggie: “A strong Irish Woman”!

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Chris; stepbrother, Jim; son-in-law, Dr. Goode Cheatham, and her stepsister, Patty Casey.
Maggie is survived by her five children, George (Cheryl) of Casper, Susan of Florida, Chris (Linda) of Texas, Reed (Barb) of Casper, and Rex of Florida; her sister, Connie of Virginia; her stepbrother, Billy; her seven grandchildren, Thad, Erin, Caley, Gavin, Allison, Laurel, and Amanda; and her twelve great-grandchildren, Brayden, Katelyn, Kaiden, Hanna, Kristen, Sophia, Christopher, Cathleen, Dylan, Bella Donna, Hallie and Maddie.

Maggie and her husband were long time parishioners of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Citrus Springs, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 604 South Center, Casper, WY, 82601.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with Father Michael Carr officiating. Following the mass there will be a celebration of Life luncheon in O’Reilly Hall at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow the reception at Highland Cemetery.
