This year, the Wyoming Singer-Songwriter Competition is going statewide.
The competition began at the Buckhorn Bar in Laramie as a way for local musicians and poets to share their original work. Since then, the competition has grown and residents from around the state have inquired about getting involved.
The event, now in its seventh year, is expanding to include seven new locations for qualifying rounds throughout the state.
Due to the number of participants, two qualifying rounds will be held at Frontier Brewing Company and Taproom in Casper on August 18 at 2 pm and 5 pm.
Fellow contestants, the audience, and external judges will assist in the judging process.
“No matter how you finish, everybody wins by sharing their art in a unique and supportive environment,” says Board member Kelli Trujillo.
Up to 5 contestants from each round will advance to the final rounds in Laramie on September 15 and 16, according to the competition’s site.
