Man dies in car-on-semi collision

The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating a collision that claimed the life of a Wyoming man.

45-year-old Thomas Nisbet died as a result of the crash, which occurred in Carbon County, near the community of Bairoil.

A Wyoming Department of Transportation crash summary says that Nisbet was the driver of a Toyota Camry, that was believed to be traveling southbound on US Highway 287, Monday, March 12th, 2018.

Investigators cite physical evidence and witness accounts in their investigation, saying that at just before 2:00 pm, near mile marker 29, the Toyota crossed the center line into the northbound lane where the vehicle collided with a northbound tractor trailer combination.

After colliding with the tractor trailer, the Toyota rotated approximately 270 degrees where it came to rest on the southbound shoulder of the highway. The impact with the tractor trailer caused fatal injuries to the driver.

Investigators have indiciated that Nisbet was believed to be wearing his seat belt incorrectly.

Impairment is being investigated as contributing factors to the crash.
