Two individuals were arrested on multiple recommended charges, after police say they were tipped by employees of an area retailer.
Christopher M. Ooka, age 33, and Kari Redmond, age 39, of Dickinson, North Dakota were arrested on Friday by the Casper Police Department.
Officers responded to Menards on East 2nd Street, after received a report of a male subject attempting to steal items from the store.
The male subject, later identified as Ooka, was actively fleeing the area on foot when he was stopped, according to a CPD statement.
While investigating the thefts, officers observed Redmond circling the area in a vehicle. Officers then made contact with Redmond.
Both Ooka and Redmond reportedly gave incorrect identities during the investigation. Both were subsequently arrested on several recommended charges stemming from the incident.
Ooka faces recommended Shoplifting, Interference with a Peace Officer, Forgery, and Identity Theft. Redmond faces Recommended Conspiracy to Commit Shoplifting, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Interference with a Peace Officer, and Forgery.
Police say that it was later determined both had active arrest warrants out of North Dakota. Additionally, Ooka was reported to have additional active arrest warrants out of Campbell County, WY.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Natrona County District Attorney’s Office.
