Phase two of the David Street Station outdoor plaza is tantalizingly close to completion.
Crews will start pouring the concrete for the ice rink portion first thing Thursday morning, according to Downtown Development Authority’s Kevin Hawley.
“We are moving at warp speed to get this open in time,” said Hawley, who says the project is completely on schedule to open on Memorial Day weekend.
Phase two of the plaza incorporates a splash pad with filtered and recycled water sprayed by jets. During the winter the plaza will be used as a ice rink. The building will include bathrooms, systems equipment to run the jets and underground ice rink freezers, and feature an observation deck. It will also be home to a Zamboni ice resurfacer.
Hawley is excited to finally introduce the outdoor plaza in its completed form. “It just makes Casper even stronger.”
